Product description

A collection of 36 simple to moderately difficult studies (difficulty 1-8), which aims to acquaint saxophonists with the various styles, rhythms and phrases they encounter in contemporary music. Each etude deals with a certain aspect of rhythmic playing, from jazz, rock and funk to contemporary modern classics. The exercises are short to medium long so that players can focus as much as possible on style and interpretation. The etudes were ranked according to difficulty so that players could evaluate their progress. Many of these exercises appear in rehearsal curricula around the world and are not only suitable for rehearsals, but are also attractive solo performances.

James Rae (* 1957) is an English saxophonist, arranger, educator and composer. He is one of the most published European composers of educational and instructional compositions for wind instruments.
