Product description
The Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World", Op. 95 (B. 178) was the first composition written by Antonín Dvořák (1841 - 1904) during his sojourn in USA. In it Dvořák gave vent to strong impressions from the foreing enviroment, and just as he had worked with elements of Slavic folk music, here he was inspired by expressions of Afro-American, Native American, and Irish folklore which he regarded as fertile ground for the development of distinctively American art music. The author of the piano transcription is the pianist Karel Šolc (1893-1985).
Antonín Leopold Dvořák (1841-1904) was a Czech composer. He is one of the most important Czech composers and is the best known and most performed Czech composer in the world. Dvořák's symphonic and concert works are traditionally part of the repertoire of major orchestras around the world.
