Product description

Antonín Dvořák wrote his five small pieces for two violins, cello and piano in 1878 when friends asked him to compose for a private circle of enthusiastic chamber players, powerful musicians with whom the composer occasionally played as a violist or harmonium player. The deliberately simpler and more relaxed character of Bagatelles ideally addresses and fulfils the requirements for works of this focus. The pieces impress with their warm and purely intimate tone, yet nowhere do they stoop to cheap melodic turns.  The score with inserted voices in the first Complete Critical Edition of Antonín Dvořák's works was editorially prepared by František Bartoš.

Antonín Leopold Dvořák (1841-1904) was a Czech composer. He is one of the most important Czech composers and is the best known and most performed Czech composer in the world. Dvořák's symphonic and concert works are traditionally part of the repertoire of major orchestras around the world.
