Product description

"Keys to Artistic Performance" is a series of three books of pieces of increasing difficulty, chosen to help pianists develop their artistic performance. The books introduce the five keys to piano playing to achieve the best possible artistic performance, and these are: timbre, pedal playing, rubato (rhythmic freedom), character of the piece and choreography (the way you move at the piano). The pieces in the books have been selected and edited by Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield and Dennis Alexander, and each piece is preceded by a short recommendation on how to play the piece correctly and which of the key elements to focus on when playing.

Dennis Alexander (*1947) is a successful and popular American composer who has earned an international reputation as one of North America's most prolific and popular composers of instructional piano music for students of all levels. For 24 years he was a professor of piano performance and piano pedagogy at the University of Montana. He retired in 1996 and has been mainly composing music ever since.
