Product description
The work of Kodály entitled 24 Little Canons On Black Keys, deals with the early instrumental education. The composer wrote some canons in one row with sol-fa notation, the student puts to it the second part by singing. This kind of exercise will train the pupil to reach a high level of concentration. The canons are very good exercises for developing ear and memory too. The volume consists of pentatonic tunes. Regarding the concept of the book Kodály wrote in the preface: ''Pentatony is given on the keys of the piano, as a ready, distinct reality which doesn't need any explanation.''
Zoltán Kodály (1882-1967) was a Hungarian composer, musicologist, teacher and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Together with Béla Bartók, he participated in the collection of folk songs and applied his folk knowledge to his compositional activities.
