Product description

The suite of old French dances "Le Tombeau de Couperin" (Couperin's Tomb) was first published in 1918. Ravel wrote this suite to commemorate his friends who died during the war, and each of the six pieces is dedicated to one of them.  The publication includes a preface, historical and performance notes in French and English.

Joseph-Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) was a French composer of Swiss-Spanish origin. He is known as an impressionist composer, but his late works in particular bear strong traces of the emerging modernism, expressionism and neoclassicism.
