Lubos Sluka (*1928) is a Czech composer. He graduated from the Prague Conservatory, where he received three diplomas in conducting, percussion and composition. He then studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in composition and film and stage music. He has spent most of his life as a freelance composer. Sluka's work is very extensive and varied in genre. It is dominated by chamber music (4 string quartets, duos, trios, sonatas), and also has a great reputation for works for children and young people (Piano School, Games and Dreams, Piano Breviary, Returns...). Vocal works are represented by 14 song cycles, a number of choruses and four cantatas, while symphonic works are represented by 10 compositions. He has also written music for 85 films of all genres, 30 television productions, 6 TV series and more than 130 chansons and popular compositions.
