Petr Smetáček (*1984) is a Czech musician, composer, accompanist and piano teacher. From an early age he was fond of the piano and music, especially classical, jazz, folk and later Latin-American salsa. Over the years he started playing other instruments as well, such as Czech bagpipes and Afro-Cuban percussion, while he also started composing and leading bands, but the piano was still his main point of interest. He studied composition at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, and during his studies he had already been playing with various ensembles in the Czech Republic and often even abroad. For many of them he composed music, too. Currently he performs mainly with his Los Rumberos ensembles and also with Peruvian percussionist Carlo Zegarra Abanto or with his wife, Japanese soprano Yukiko Kinjo Smetacek. Since 2017 he has been working as a piano teacher and accompanist at the art and music school in Slany. In his free time he composes both for students and ensembles of art and music schools, as well as for professional artists and groups.
