Product description

Suite of Old Dances of the 17th Century is concert suite for violin and piano. This piece is composed of dance motifs based on old manuscripts and collections from the 17th century which have been preserved in several important manuscripts and anthologies. Milan Ort, author of this composition chose dances for this suite from The Vietoris Book of Tablature (1660-1680), from The Kajoni Kodex (1634-1671) and The Levoča Music Collection (1621-1674). He carefully and sensitively combined the individual dances into one composition and wrote a piano accompaniment, thus creating a very interesting concert suite, which will introduce you to the dance music of the 17th century.
There is a link in the set that will allow you to download a demo recording and a piano accompaniment recording in mp3 format to your computer. Recordings are made from the notation program in which the songs were written. The audio (demo) file will give you an idea of how the song sounds and the piano accompaniment can be used for practicing the song.

Milan Ort (*1955) is a Czech violinist, violist, composer and arranger. He studied violin at the Prague Conservatory. He has been a member of many folk ensembles and chamber orchestras, where he has performed in the first violin or viola section. His compositions focus on the stylization of folk music from all parts of the world, especially from Moravia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. In his other work, he writes small solo or chamber pieces, mainly for children and students of art and music schools.
