- Nabucco
Product description
The opera Nabuccodonosor (in short: Nabucco), composed in 1842, was so successful, that the composer Giuseppe Verdi (1831-1901) was overwhelmed from that moment on, with commissions for new operas. In the case of Nabucco, Verdi didn't at first want to compose an overture at all, and it was due to the insistance of his brother-in-law that the overture actually got written. The famous hymn-like melody of the slave chorus forms the middle section of the overture. And it is due to this striking theme that the overture has enjoyed unprecedented popularity.
Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi (1813-1901) was an Italian composer. He is one of the greatest Italian opera composers of the 19th century. Verdi composed many beautiful and well-known operas (e.g. Rigoletto, Nabucco, La Traviata, Aida, etc.), which belong to the golden fund of world opera music.
