Vilém Blodek, real name Vilém František Plodek (1834–1874) was a Czech composer, flutist, pianist, choirmaster and music teacher. At the age of nineteen, he studied composition, flute and piano at the Prague Conservatory. He then worked for two years in Galicia, Poland (now Lubice) as a private music teacher. In 1855 he returned to Prague, where he worked as a choirmaster, pianist and private music teacher. In 1860 he became a professor of flute at the Prague Conservatory.
