Jan Malina (* 1979) is Czech composer, arranger and double bass player. He graduated from the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, in the field of bass playing under the leadership of prof. Jan Krček. After his studies, he started teaching double bass, bass guitar and electronic keyboard at three music schools. As an active musician, he was a member of many bands of different genres: Cimbalom Music Technik, Cimbalom Music Kotár (folklore), RH quartet and Hot Club Fren (jazz), Naches (klezmer), Z horní dolní a dál na jih (folk). For a long time he was also making and repairing string musical instruments, especially the biggest of the string family - double basses. He has been arranging and composing music since his studies at the conservatory. His pieces sound very pleasant, melodic and are often jazz inspired.
