Product description
A collection of short meditative pieces (nocturnes) written by jazz piano master Dave Brubeck for intermediate to intermediate pianists as a bridge from classical music to jazz. Dave Brubeck himself describes these pieces as ready-made compositions that require no improvisation and that offer a basic introduction to the jazz themes and harmonies which are often foundation for his jazz performances.
Dave Brubeck (born David Warren Brubeck) (1920-2012) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He is considered a leading representative of "Cool Jazz". In many of the pieces he wrote or played, he experimented with unusual bars, e.g. Take Five (5/4), Pick Up Sticks (6/4), Unsquare Dance (7/4), Blue Rondo à la Turk (9/8) ...... Along with Paul Desmond, Joe Morell and Eugene Wright, they formed the very popular The Dave Brubeck Quartet of their time.
