Product description
Songs on two pages - a cycle of seven songs on texts of Moravian folk poetry composed by Bohuslav Martinu during the Second World War. The Songs on two pages come alive all home confidentiality to which the Bohuslav Martinů, thousands of miles away in American exile, always turned again. The songs are technically available to all amateur singers and for its beauty and grace have become part of the repertoire of concert singers. The songs are in the form: melodic line with text and piano accompaniment.
Bohuslav Martinů (1890-1959) was a Czech composer, violinist, pedagogue and music critic. His artistic development progressed from impressionism through neoclassicism, expressionism and jazz inspiration to a purely compositional style of his own. Stylistically, he is closest to the generation of neo-classicists such as Arthur Honegger, Béla Bartók and others.
