Product description

„Folk songs accompany musicians since time immemorial and they have a very important role in studying any melodic musical instrument. This publication is to be taken as an invitation for intermediate violinists to take an unusual journey for songs in the form of short recital pieces based on folk songs. The songs in this book often develop a dialogue with the piano. All of the arrangements are composed for the first position and in a rhythmically simple scheme. The arrangements are in a classical style, but they keep the spirit of folkmusic.“ Milan Ort, arranger.

A collection of ten recitals for violin and piano based on Czech and Slovak folk songs. There's a link in the publication where you can download audio files, both, demo recordings and piano accompaniment only in mp3 format.  Recordings are made from the notation program in which the pieces were written. Audio files are listed here to give you an idea of how the pieces sound and piano accompaniments can be used to home rehearse the songs.

Milan Ort (*1955) is a Czech violinist, violist, composer and arranger. He studied violin at the Prague Conservatory. He has been a member of many folk ensembles and chamber orchestras, where he has performed in the first violin or viola section. His compositions focus on the stylization of folk music from all parts of the world, especially from Moravia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. In his other work, he writes small solo or chamber pieces, mainly for children and students of art and music schools.
